Adventure- A Write a Day

So, in an effort to become more blog-mindful, and prompted by the wonderful Maria at Another Cup of Coffee, I am trying this A-Z Challenge. Every day, you get a topic in alphabetical order to use as a prompt, and since I loooove prompts…I signed up, to get back into the writing mindset.

Adventure. You know, I think there’s more adventure to just living daily life than to the storybook adventures. The hero swooping in to save the princess? That’s just adrenaline rush, really. The true adventure is built up day by day.

People say love is an adventure, but the more worthwhile adventure to me is marriage. Love can change. Do you even remember your first love? The details are probably fuzzy. You probably look back at it with a kind of ‘was I ever really that young and silly?’ type of thing. In marriage, you have a comrade, who is striving towards the same thing you are (hopefully), it is a bit more like a quest you are both on, more of a unified thing. And you can fall in and out of love, but marriage is something for the long haul. Yes, love is in a good marriage, but marriage is so much more than love. It’s overcoming the daily pebbles of early alarms, sick kids, full kitchen sinks, slaying the dragons of troubled kids, the newly-wed immaturity, workaholic careers. I think love might not survive the daily gunk, the dragons, but if you’re committed to the adventure of marriage, you’ll be able to kick those little daily pebbles out of the way and negotiate through the dragons. And the rewards will be treasure beyond your wildest imagining.

  1. I agree that marriage is an adventure. Adventure is fun but it also can involve danger and other things to be overcome. It’s in the overcoming that what could just be a sad story or even tragedy transforms into an adventure, especially when you overcome TOGETHER.
Nice post, I’m looking forward to more!

    • Together is the key, always. Thanks for the like!

  2. Yes, marriage is a grand adventure. The ups and the downs, the ordinary and the spectacular. It’s a wonderful journey as well. Best wishes on the challenge. 🙂

    • Thanks! And to you as well!

Have Fun with God

Then I decided to spend my time having fun because I felt that there was nothing better in all the earth than that a man should eat, drink, and be merry, with the hope that this happiness would stick with him in all the hard work that God gives to mankind everywhere.
