Frankfurt trip

Shame on me.  I totally forgot to mention our trip to Frankfurt.  Family and shopping trip.  The family visits were wonderful, especially since it had been 8 years since I’ve seen some of them.  It is so incredible to think that we’ll be in the same country, and only a few hours away via car.

Frankfurt shopping…  Wow….  It was one of those experiences when everything seems the same, just tilted a little sideways.  The shopping district reminded me a bit of State Street in Chicago – the same kind of big department stores, display windows, people all over.  You truly know you’re a shopper when you can enter a store and almost sense what department is which.  Though to be fair, I did make a bee-line for the store floors listing, which was in German, but still.  Cosmetics counter…check, men/women/kids clothes…check.  Sports department – o.k., some differences.

Have to admit though, I did want to just take out an ad to apologize to Germany for the junk brought over from America.  Hannah Montana was represented in the kids’ department.

One major difference in the shopping district that was wonderful was the Frankfurt Market.  Fresh flowers, both cut and growing, meat counters, spice counters, cheese, chocolate, cappuccino, and on the second floor, you could get whole birds, whole pigs, ‘hunters’ type-animals, whole fish.  I stayed on the first floor.  SO much to see there.

There is a second page up with some of the pictures from the trip, including a couple at a really neat ancient Roman village in the shadow of the Frankfurt Cathedral.  There were kids swarming all over the village the day we were there – so, yes, that is Chelsea in the middle.

  1. Ginny, I’m really enjoying following ya’ll via your blog. Thank you for sharing!! It sounds like the family is settling in nicely. Germany sounds beautiful!

    • Hey, thank you! Any time you get over across the Atlantic, let us know – and we do have a guest room if interested.

Have Fun with God

Then I decided to spend my time having fun because I felt that there was nothing better in all the earth than that a man should eat, drink, and be merry, with the hope that this happiness would stick with him in all the hard work that God gives to mankind everywhere.
