Week 1 of the rest of my life

We are all basically moved in at Covecrest.  The house is beautiful – one great room with the kitchen, LR/DR combo – including 2 pullout double sleeper couches, 2 downstairs bedrooms, and a loft upstairs connected by a winding iron staircase that Socks really likes.  HE likes it because the dog can’t get up the stairs to the cat bowls and because he can look down on everyone else like the vastly superior cat he thinks he is.

The quiet here!  The first night, Chuck and Chris went up to the main building while I put Chelsea to  bed.  After she went to sleep, I went out to the great room to sit and knit.  There’s no television in the house where we are staying.  No Wii.  No internet.  It was just me, the woods around the house, and the peaceful quite.  I could almost see my heart opening to whatever God had in mind to tell me, even if it was only a “Hey, you’ll have time and space for that T-shirt quilt, won’t you?”

It’s like Father Michael said…and maybe a bit of Will S. – the noise of the world is so incredibly so much with us that we need to pause and still our hearts and to God’s voice.  This is a really good place to do that.

Have Fun with God

Then I decided to spend my time having fun because I felt that there was nothing better in all the earth than that a man should eat, drink, and be merry, with the hope that this happiness would stick with him in all the hard work that God gives to mankind everywhere.
