Impulse For the Day: Only say the word

24th Week of Ordinary Time
                                      Gospel: Luke 7:1-10
Only say the word and let my servant be healed. (Verse 7)
Who is the servant?  At first I thought people for whom I should ask for intercession.  But then I realized that the servant is first and foremost me, myself.  I must become healthy first.  There are conflicts inside of me.  I am a priest and say that I want to serve people. But don’t I often serve only myself?  How often do I look for recognition and affirmation only for me? I can hide this very well, but if I am honest with myself, then I as the servant need healing.
Only say the word and let my servant be healed.

What is the word that Jesus should speak?  It must be a single word!  It must be a very important word, a word that brings healing.  But what is it?  What does He say?  What word spoken over me would have this power?  This is a question that I should not answer for anyone else.  I can only take this question to prayer, to take it to a conversation with Jesus.  Let us take time today for this question: “Jesus what is your word to me?”  I would be very interested to hear from some of you about what that personal word is to you.  Maybe someone has heard it already?  Maybe we will hear it today…
Only say the word and let my servant be healed.
Now we can pray an intercessory prayer for the many servants, whom God has laid on our hearts.  Let’s ask Jesus to send out His powerful word over all of the many situations, especially those that seem stuck and unsolvable.  Let’s ask Jesus to send out His word over the sick and all those that require inner or outer healing.

Have Fun with God

Then I decided to spend my time having fun because I felt that there was nothing better in all the earth than that a man should eat, drink, and be merry, with the hope that this happiness would stick with him in all the hard work that God gives to mankind everywhere.
