Impulse For the Day: Of her was born Jesus

Thursday September 8, 2011

Feast of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary

                                    Gospel: Matthew 1:1-23

Of her was born Jesus…  (Verse 16)

Today we celebrate the birthday of Mary!  When we celebrate someone’s birthday, we say: “It is good that you exist!  It is good that you are here.  It is good that you were born!”    Mary is an enrichment to our life. We see in her clearly that that there are no false contrast between the love for God and the love for our neighbor.  It cannot be separated. It must not be allowed to be separated!

Of her was born Jesus…

Marie’s life is so valuable because she was graced by God.  She is “full of grace!” The more a human life is given grace, the more this person becomes a gift to all others.  We see this clearly in our saints.  Mary’s life was graced in the highest measure possible. She set no limits to God’s gift of grace.  This is why her life is now such a huge, universal gift to all of mankind.  God’s plan can be seen in Mary:  To unite all people under Christ in universal harmony of love. Here God’s Love and love for our neighbor are realized.  We are all one family in God, in the Holy Trinity.  We are as close to our fellow man as we are to God.  A giant community of love.

Of her was born Jesus…

Today on her birthday we can give a special thank you to Mary.  We can even count in so many ways the things we find so beautiful in her.  We can tell her how much her life has enriched ours.  We can compliment her.  She gave birth to Jesus.  She brought God back into the world. That was pure grace; but she also said yes to this plan of God.  She has offered herself and through this has made all of our lives immeasurably more fruitful.  If we have a good relationship with her, she will help us, so that we can open ourselves completely to grace.  Then our lives will be more fruitful to other people

Happy Birthday, Mary…and thank you.

Have Fun with God

Then I decided to spend my time having fun because I felt that there was nothing better in all the earth than that a man should eat, drink, and be merry, with the hope that this happiness would stick with him in all the hard work that God gives to mankind everywhere.
