Missionary Formation

Someone asked me today what Mission Formation would entail.  The problem is that I really don’t now.  I know that my ‘me’ and family ‘us’ will change to a community ‘us’.  I know that I’ll be learning how to not panic living on Divine Providence.  The Lifeteen website says that “Life Teen Missionaries are the hands, feet and heart of Christ in their communities.”  Usually, I show this in the care of my family.  I suspect my family is about to get a whole lot bigger.

Usually, your job is the first thing you talk about;  it’s what gives you your identity, who you are.  My job is about to become being the representative of Jesus (and his Mama) in a town in Germany.  The employment will be come second, if not third on the priority list.  I’ll become an even better Catholic than I currently am, better-informed and deeper feeling about my religion, and more willing to let my beliefs show.

Right now, religion is a huge, but quiet part of my life.  I don’t want to push my religion on anyone, but surely it is possible to show faith, in the non-denominational sense.  Like Elizabeth said, “There is one God;  the rest are trifles”.  I’ll definitely go with the one God, and that most ‘trifles’ truly don’t matter next to knowing God, but the Eucharist is a fairly important trifle I’d rather not give in on.  To me, the transubstantiation is absolutely awesome, and an integral part of life and religion.
