Beat update and translator duties

Update on the Atlanta Beat – we were SO proud of our ATL girls!!  The final score was 0-0, both teams did well.  The Beat goalie made some amazing saves that we were right up close to see, we got World Cup players’ autographs – not Abby Wambach, but she’s had a busy week, and was the last player off the pitch.  All three of my family goalies were impressed by the game.  The caliber of play was something that we were more used to seeing on TV then live (sorry, Silverbacks – we still love y’all).

Translator duties?  Yep.  The German priest that is supporting Life Teen (and is a really nice guy) has a daily reflection going out that has been being translated into English by one of the missionaries who is at the European Life Teen camp this week, so Chuck and I have been collaborating on the translation. It’s an interesting experience;  first Chuck does the German to English translation, then I spell-check, grammar-check, and flow-of-thought-check…and send out.  We get it here in the (way) early a.m., so one trick is to make sure caffeine is a part of the first reading.  It’s interesting seeing how the…mindset?..of the German flow of words differs from English train of thought.  More deliberate?

Have Fun with God

Then I decided to spend my time having fun because I felt that there was nothing better in all the earth than that a man should eat, drink, and be merry, with the hope that this happiness would stick with him in all the hard work that God gives to mankind everywhere.
