Trust in the Lord

Blessed are those who trust in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord.  They shall be like a tree planted by water, sending out its roots by the stream.  It shall not fear when heat comes, and its leaves shall stay green;  in the year of drought it is not anxious, and it does not cease to bear fruit.

Jeremiah 17:7-8

We went to Saint Simons Island for a couple of days.  St. Simons is a place that I dearly love, and is one of two geographical places that make me feel the closest to God outside of church. For those interested, the other is Covecrest, in Tiger, GA.

Anyways…there is a shop there in the Pier Village called Go Fish – which is where I bought a shirt with the above quotation.  It seemed fitting because what we are doing right now is very much putting our faith in God for absolutely everything.  When I tell people what we are doing, a common reaction seems to be “well, aren’t you brave to be doing that!”.  Not really.  It is just that the Church is all about putting your faith in God and trusting that He will be there, and that he will not let anything unnecessary happen to you.  If we teach the kids this in religious education classes, then surely we adults need to practice what we preach and put our lives in God’s hands.  It seems to work out much better when I let Him handle things than when I try to do it on my own, without even trying to listen to His ideas.

Have Fun with God

Then I decided to spend my time having fun because I felt that there was nothing better in all the earth than that a man should eat, drink, and be merry, with the hope that this happiness would stick with him in all the hard work that God gives to mankind everywhere.
